XXX MUSIC FESTIVAL

On reaching its 30th edition, the Madeira Festival of Music appears on the regional calendar as a prestigious event that, every year, marks the beginning of summer with a cultural offering of the highest quality. Year after year, this project has attracted audiences and followers, helping to motivate and improve our touristic role, and to attract more and more people from Madeira in order to put together food programmes of classical music.

As an initiative promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Department of Culture, the Madeira Festival of Music makes its own very special contribution to the raising of the profile and participation in what we may call cultural citizenship, offering to audiences very diverse programming, which includes a variety of genres, periods, repertoires and performers, and also making use of and benefitting from the magnificent buildings in which the concerts take place.

It remains to express our thanks to all the organizations and institutions who provide such excellent institutional cooperation with the Festival, namely the Diocese of Funchal and the Municipal Council of Funchal, as well as our sincere thanks to Dr Luís Pereira Leal, who has for many years made available, as artistic director, the best of his sensitivity and ability in programming a festival of the highest quality. Now part of the Festival of the Atlantic that the Regional Department of Tourism is promoting in the month of June, the Madeira Festival of Music continues to be, for residents and tourists, a high point that we hope will be appreciated by all who wish to benefit from the best that this Autonomous Region has to offer in culture and tourism.
