MADEIRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011

The Madeira Music Festival is already part of the calendar of cultural events as a significant event in the month of July, marking in a special way the beginning of the summer period and the summer festivals. Thus, year after year, with its characteristic high quality programming, the Music Festival has gained audiences and aficionados, and is also an incentive for the raising of the profile of Madeira as a tourist destination, as well as attracting ever more Madeirans to enjoy the excellent programmes of classical music.

The Madeira Music Festival takes place from 3 to 12 June, with concerts every day, in a varied sequence of programmes that contributes in a vary particular way to the participation of ever wider cultural audiences, offering a variety of genres, periods, repertoires and performers, the whole also benefitting from the magnificent buildings, part of the heritage of Madeira, where the concerts take place.

The Music Festival is organized by the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Office of Cultural Affairs, as part of a project that is part of the Madeira Cultural Festivals series, whose programming has a much wider temporal and thematic range (running until 2013 and including many kinds of events), in part supported by European Community funds.

It remains for me to express my thanks to all the organisms and institutions who have collaborated so readily with the Festival, in order that the Madeira Music Festival may continue to be a high point that we hope will be appreciated by all those who wish to benefit from the best cultural and touristic experiences available in this Autonomous Region.
